Learning for one's self and making an informed decision to have a home birth is nothing short of empowering.~ Cecilia Yellico (Click to read more)

I was excited to discover Aspen Roots during a general search for homebirth midwives in the area. I was almost 30 weeks pregnant with my second baby and hoping to switch providers so that I could have the home birth I'd always wanted. Heidi's emphasis on and trust in a mother's intuition was what initially drew my attention. After a couple phone conversations and an in person consultation, I knew Heidi would be a wonderful fit. I could just feel it in my bones. She is a brilliant, lovely person with a great sense of humor and such a refreshing, down to earth wisdom and approach with all things babies, pregnancy and the marvelous miracle of birth. Once she accepted me as a client, there was much to be done in the final weeks of pregnancy, including research and educating myself on proper nutrition, a healthy pregnancy, and a fulfilling, safe home birth. Learning for one's self and making an informed decision to have a home birth is nothing short of empowering. Heidi was patient, supportive, wise and clever the entire way even though there were several unexpected turns and hurdles. Plus, we live in the mountains which added its own layer of intricacy. The birth of my second son was beautiful, smooth, epic-and fast!...everything I'd hoped. Healing afterwards has been peaceful and incident free. Heidi and her network of fellow midwives are magical: they all bring a wealth of experience to the field while each one contributes her own passion and spice to the beautiful work. I am also grateful that Heidi was understanding and accommodating with my 1 year old anytime he was with me for appts. before and after the birth. She was always kind and engaging with him too. Aspen Roots is a special place and I am confident that anyone who enlists Heidi's services will be happy they did. I know I am. ~Cecilia Yellico
